Your goals are my mission.
I pride myself in having many tools to tackle each unique challenge. Credentials and certifications are important in their own right, but life experience and interpersonal skills develop empathy and create authenticity. It is my own missteps in life that have led to my greatest successes and those experiences are what give me courage and strength to hold the needs of others.
A necessity in successful therapy is to start with a foundation built on trust with clients through warmth, understanding, and genuineness. From there, using an integrative, collaborative approach to help clients break out of maladaptive patterns, build emotional security, and live life with more confidence and self-compassion is my ultimate goal. I aim to work with clients to unlock their insight and inner wisdom, in order to build a fulfilling life. To assist in this journey, I use a variety of evidence-based, person-centered therapeutic models.
Finally, and possibly most importantly, I like to weave in humor & fun with the work that I do! Most topics are tough and many are painful, but it doesn't mean that the healing process and overall therapeutic experience can't have some light-hearted moments. I am definitely known to poke fun at myself, especially when the going gets really tough. I believe it's what helps me get through to the other side.
I graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and emphasis in Sports Psychology. Eventually I went on to earn a Master's Degree from Pepperdine University, in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. After relocating back to MN several years ago, I obtained my license as a Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and became a Board Approved Clinical Supervisor. I have completed multiple skills trainings to assist in treating complex trauma, including ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) and MI (Motivational Interviewing). Finally, in addition to a variety of professional experiences, I have an extensive background in crisis response which includes assessing suicide risk and addressing prevention.
